Eureka girls top L4 rivals on the volleyball court

The Eureka Loggers followed last week’s league-opening win at McKinleyville in volleyball with a three-sets victory over St. Bernard’s in a non-league showdown on Monday night.

The Eureka girls won 25-10, 25-23, 25-15 with several players contributing.

Mariah Napoleon had another big night and finished with a team-high 11 kills and two aces, while teammate Isis Poteet added seven kills and a block.

Anisha Rechelluul also continued to impress and finished with 21 assists and three aces, while Aniah Gaither chipped in six kills and a block and Maeghan Hampton added five kills and four aces.

Josie Montana also finished with four aces, while Bridgette, Dunn, Tehya tuttle and Sierra Mendoza all played solid defense on the back line against their crosstown rivals.

Both teams will return to league play this week

The Loggers will try to make it two straight wins in the Big 5 when they host the Fortuna Huskies on Wednesday night.
