South Fork Cubs win on the road at Potter Valley

The South Fork Cubs won on the road for the second straight weekend on Friday night, defeating Potter Valley 47-6.

Quarterback Shevy Vanmeter had a big night and completed 5 of 9 passes for 144 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception.

He also ran for 74 yards and a TD on five carries.

And he wasn’t the only standout for the visitors.

“We’re getting better,” said head coach Karl Terrell. “We still had some mistakes, but we made less mistakes than before. I think we’re progressing.”

Justin Freitas ran in for two touchdowns and had 48 yards rushing on four carries.

Wesley Way also scored twice, finishing with 84 yards and a TD on 12 carries and pulling in one TD reception for 44 yards.

John Harding added a TD reception and finished with 94 yards on three catches, while also leading the team on defense with 10 tackles and hitting on five of his six PATs.

Boden Bero-vanmeter rounded out the scoring with an 11-yard TD catch, while freshman John Stafslien had four carries for 27 yards.

Canon Baker, Lucas Genolio snd John Shilling each had six tackles and Broc Contreras added a sack.

The 2-2 Cubs will open league play at Calistoga next weekend.
