The Redwood Acres Raceway will host two nights of racing this weekend, with events scheduled for both Friday and Saturday nights.
The popular Fan Appreciation Night will take place on Friday, while the following night will feature the debut of the Gunslinger Sprint Cars as well as the Rumble In The Woods 50 for the Upstate Bomber Series. Both events are being presented by Shafer’s Ace Hardware.
Fan Appreciation Night was originally scheduled for late August but had to be delayed due to CAL FIRE’s use of the fairgrounds for the Six Rivers Lightning Complex fires.
Entrance to the grandstands for Friday’s Fan Appreciation Night race is free and the first 200 kids to enter will receive a trophy.
The Legends, Bombers, Mini Stocks and Roadrunners will all be in action and the front gates open at 4 p.m. with an on-track meet and greet beginning at 5:30 and the racing starting at 6.
Saturday’s Gunslinger Sprint Cars will feature some of the fastest speeds the raceway has seen in recent times.
The race will also feature a big purse, with $5,000 for the winner and a $750 to start payout.
The Upstate Bomber Series will also have a big payout, with a $7,500 total purse, including $3,000 for the winning car.
Saturday’s event will also feature the First Annual Redwood Acres Raceway Bike Giveaway, with more than 50 bikes to be given to kids thanks to numerous donations from local business and private parties. The grandstands will open at 4 p.m. Saturday with racing starting at 5:30.
Tickets for Saturday’s season finale are $15 and can be purchased online at RacinTheAcres.com or at Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop or JC Auto in Fortuna.
