By Ray Hamill — College football will return to the Redwood Bowl this fall, with College of the Redwoods set to play home games at the picturesque North Coast stadium.
The Corsairs, who haven’t played since 2019, will kick off the season at Merced College early next month, before returning home to host San Jose City College on Sept. 10.
The Corsairs have five home games on their 10-game regular season schedule.
They will also host Monterey Peninsula College on Sept. 24; Foothill College on Oct. 1; DeAnza College on Nov. 5 and Gavilan College on Nov. 12.
All home games are set for 1 p.m.
The Redwood Bowl has been hosting football game since 1946 and was home to Humboldt State games for more than seven decades until the local university dropped football in 2018.
Arcata and McKinleyville high schools have also hosted games at the Redwood in recent years, but neither played there last season.
The Corsairs also played their home games at the Redwood Bowl in 2018.
The first game ever played at the Redwood Bowl was on Oct. 8 1946, when the Lumberjacks hosted the Stanford JV in a 20-0 loss.
