The McKinleyville 10-year-old Little League All-Stars advanced to the final four at the Northern California state tournament in Turlock on Monday with a comprehensive win over Chowchilla.

One day after losing for the first time in tourney play to a pitching-strong San Mateo team, the Mack players responded with a 16-4 victory.

The win sets up another elimination game for McKinleyville on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

The local All-Stars broke the deadlock in the second inning of Monday’s game, when Jared Brunner had a base hit to score Hudson Kapko and Liam Currell, who had both singled to reach base.

Brunner made his way around the bases on the same play to score on an error and give his team an early three-run advantage.

Brunner was involved again in a four-run fourth inning, hitting a key double.

Currell, Layne McCullough, Lucas Ball, Tanner Baxter and Colton Hawkes each had a walk in the inning, while Teoh Arredondo drove in a run on a sac fly.

Arredondo got the start on the mound and held the Chowchilla bats in check, with Hawkes and Currell each also impressing in relief.

Chowchilla scored twice in the fifth, but the Mack All-Stars would pull away again after exploding for nine runs in the sixth.

Arredondo hit a double and a single in the high-scoring inning, while Brunner hit his second double of the game,

Kapko also had a double, while Hawkes, Breyden Brock, Currell, and Ball all added singles.
