By Ray Hamill — College of the Redwoods multi-sport standout Brianna Green is taking her talents to a four-year school after recently signing her letter of commitment to compete for Fresno Pacific University.
Green leaves an incredible legacy of success in her wake, after playing a key role in leading the Corsairs to a pair of breakthrough conference championships in two different sports and setting three school records.
In the winter of 2019/20, she was a part of the Corsairs women’s basketball team that won a first conference championship in the sport in 40 years, and she followed that this past spring by helping the CR women’s track and field team win a first-ever conference championship.
Born in Southern California, Green grew up in Florida, but made her way to CR and was a standout two-sport athlete for the Corsairs.
She set three school records on the track earlier this year in the 200 meters (25.31 seconds), the 400 meters (57.10) and the 400 hurdles (1 minute, 4.81 seconds).
She also placed eighth in the 400m in the state championship meet.
Seeing her take her talents to the next level does not surprise CR track and field head coach Reed Elmore.
“She’s goal oriented,” he said. “She’s got a good work ethic and she’s a good teammate.
“She just has a vision of what she wants with her life. She’s in it to win it.”
“She improved a lot here,” he said.
