By Ray Hamill — The McKinleyville 8-10 Little League All-Stars advanced to Thursday’s championship round at the District 26 tournament with a big win at the Arcata fields on Tuesday.
The Mack All-Stars defeated Redwood Empire 12-0 in four innings to remain unbeaten in tournament play.
Earlier in the day, the Eel River All-Stars won an elimination game against Klamath Trinity to remain in the hunt for the district title.
The Eel River players held the KT bats hitless in a 14-0 victory, also in four innings.
Eel River is now 3-1 at the week-long tournament and avoided elimination for the second straight day with a second straight shutout victory.
They will now advance to play Redwood Empire on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. with a place in the championship round up for grabs.
RELL, which is now 1-1 at the tournament, defeated Eel River 15-5 on Sunday.
The McKinleyville All-Stars, meanwhile, have been on fire at the tournament and have outscored their two opponents by a combined 28-0.
On Sunday, they defeated Klamath Trinity 16-0.
