Dolcini, Texas women reach final four at WCWS

University of Texas Athletics – Hailey Dolcini

Hailey Dolcini and the Texas Longhorns avoided elimination at the Women’s College World Series with a 5-2 win over Arizona on Sunday and advanced to the final four in tournament play.

The Texas women will play unbeaten Oklahoma State on Monday at 4 p.m., and if they win that game the two teams will face off a second time later in the evening with a place in this week’s World Series finals up for grabs.

Dolcini got the start on Sunday and pitched 3.1 innings for a no-decision, while allowing just two earned runs on three hits and one walk and striking out one.

Teammate Estelle Czech got the win in relief, as the Texas women overcame a 2-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Monday’s first game is set for 4 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.

  1. Texas Two-Step, on to the Finals. Henchy called it on the write-up after last loss, Texas got through other side of bracket after losing to Oklahoma in order to get to Finals to play Oklahoma again.

    Best of 3 now.
