Redwood Acres Raceway gets set for big weekend

Redwood Acres Raceway

The 2022 season at Redwood Acres Raceway continues this Saturday with the North State Modified Series making the first of two scheduled stops at the local track this year.

The night’s action, which also features the Legends, Bombers, Mini Stocks and Roadrunners, is presented by DelReka Distributing.

This weekend’s race will also be the third of the season for the North State Modifieds.

Darrin Sullivan of Kelseyville won the opening two races in Stockton and at the Shasta Speedway, while Tracy’s Scott Winters swept both NSMS races at the Acres in 2021 and is currently second in the points standings to Sullivan.

Anderson’s Keith Bloom is third in points and should also be a factor this weekend.

In the Legends division, meanwhile, Tyler Avelar leads the season standings by just four points over Jordon Paiment, with Maleesa Miles third, Chris Sarvinski in fourth and Andrew Thornton and Scott Taylor tied for fifth.

In the Bomber division, Tyler Krupa holds a slender two-point lead over his brother Jordan Krupa for top spot in the season standings.

Veteran racer Steve Kimberling sits third, with rookie Kadence Toland fourth and Raquel Krupa fifth.

Things are also tight in the Mini Stocks.

Leader Gary Klinetobe has a two-point advantage over Brian Murrell, Jr., with Jarrett Mayo just two points further back in third. Cole Peterson is fourth, with Gannon Cyphers fifth.

In the Roadrunners division, leader Tanisha Ratzlaff leads Dylan Ford by four points, with Jeremiah Marin five points further back in third.

The Late Models will have the weekend off and will be back in action on June 24.

David Henderson currently leads Mike Doss by three points in the season standings, with Luke Hall third, Brandon Barnwell fourth and David Miller in fifth.

Tickets for this Saturday’s event can be purchased for $10 online at RacinTheAcres.com, or at Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop or JC Auto in Fortuna.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate on race day.

The races will be streamed live on RacinTheAcres.tv and SpeedSport.TV for $15.

A practice will be held Friday from 1 to 8 p.m.

The gates open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, with racing starting at 5:30.
