Lumberjacks receive four all-conference selections in softball

Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics

Four Cal Poly Humboldt players have been named to the 2022 All-CCAA Softball Team, the conference announced this week.

Micaela Harris has been included on the all-conference first team, while teammates Izzy Starr, JoAna Mullins and Vanessa Saltos have been named to the second team.

The teams are voted on by the conference’s 11 head coaches.

Harris, who was a second team honoree in 2018 and a 2020 CCAA All-Star recipient, hit .388 this season and started in all 53 games for the Jacks.

The Rocklin native led the team with 69 hits, 53 runs, seven triples and 48 stolen bases and was named to the NFCA/Schutt Sports Top 50 Player/Pitcher of the Year Watch List earlier in the season.

Harris was second in the nation in stolen bases and 16th in triples, while leading the CCAA in stolen bases.

Mullins is a first-time all-conference honoree and also started in all 53 games for the Jacks at either shortstop, third base or first base.

The San Ramon native hit .333 this season with nine doubles and two triples and had 33 RBIs.

Saltos is also a first-time all-conference honoree. The Merced native hit .283 this season in 52 games and led the Jacks with 10 home runs, while also hitting eight doubles.

Starr is also a first-time all-conference selection, but was a 2021 NFCA All-American honoree.

This spring she led the Jacks with a .395 batting average, 15 doubles, 41 RBIs and a .605 slugging percentage.

Starr started in all 51 games she played in this season for Humboldt at either third base, catcher or designated player and also hit seven home runs.
