The Arcata Tigers continued to keep pace with Big 5 leaders Eureka with a comprehensive 10-0 win over Del Norte at Mack High on Wednesday.

Senior Vincent Agliolo was outstanding once again on the mound, while junior teammate Will Mager hit a walk-off two-run home run to end the game after five innings.

Agliolo gave up just one hit to the visitors, while walking three and striking out nine.

He also was 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run.

Mager finished 2-for-4 and also had a double, while Nick Parker was 2-for-3 with a double.

Freshman Wilson Medina continued to impress for Arcata and added a double, while Alex Gorge, Anthony Ebert and Isaiah Levy each also had a hit.

Ethan Thomas had a solid game on the mound for the Warriors, but they struggled at the plate and were unable to drive in any runs despite getting some base runners in scoring position on a couple of occasions.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 6-1 in the Big 5 and 17-2 overall, and they remain just one win behind the Eureka Loggers, who won 12-0 at Fortuna on Wednesday.

The two Big 5 contenders are scheduled to play three games against each other next week.

With rain expected this weekend, Arcata head coach Troy Ghisetti said he is hoping to have a doubleheader at Del Norte moved forward to Friday.

The Loggers are also hoping have their weekend doubleheader against Fortuna moved forward a day and both teams want to avoid any extra games next week so they will have their top pitchers available for such a key series.
