The Hoopa Warriors took a big step towards a Little championship in softball with a big doubleheader sweep over St. Bernard’s on Wednesday.
The Hoopa girls won 19-1 and 19-3 and improved to 7-1 in the L4 with just four games remaining.
After a disappointing walk-off loss to the Crusaders on Saturday, this time around the Hoopa bats came out on fire and had 37 base hits over the two games.
Savannah Colegrove struck out six on her way to the win in the circle in game one, while also finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Hannah McCullough also was 3-for-3 with a double, while Nae-Rew Martin, Nalani Colegrove and Bethany Masten each had two hits and Diamond Bibancos one.
The Hoopa bats continued to make noise in game two, with three hits each by Jewely Bibancos, Nalani Colegrove and Martin, while Tatianna Colegrove had two more doubles and Diamond Bibancos had a home run.
Rounding out a big day at the plate for the team, Savannah Colegrove and Roxie Robinson each had two hits and Masten and Bella Valentine each had one.
Courteney Goodman continued to impress for St. Bernard’s and had two hits in game one, while teammates Hannah Finck and Kodi Meyer each had one.
Kiara McGinnis had a hit in game two.
With the losses, the Crusader are now 5-5 in the Little 4 and 7-12 overall.
