Cubs, Crusaders face off in entertaining Little 4 doubleheader

The South Fork and St. Bernard’s girls played an entertaining Little 4 softball doubleheader in Miranda on Saturday, with the Cubs winning both games.

After taking the opener 12-8, the South Fork girls scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for an 8-7 walk-off win in game two.

For St. Bernard’s, in game one, Kodi Meyer was 2-for-4 with two runs, while Emma Wilson was 2-for-4 and Marce Davila was 1-for-2 with a run.

The defensively sound Davila also had a big game at third base.

In game two, St. Bernard’s Aubree Saunderson came up with a clutch hit to tie the game in the sixth inning and the visiting Crusaders took their first lead of the game in the top of the seventh.

The Cubs, however, responded with some clutch offense of their own in the bottom half of the inning to pull out the win and improve to 2-2 in the Little 4.

Wilson had another big game for St. Bernard’s and finished 3-for-4 with two runs, while Torrin Baty and Teressa Riley each added a hit and a run.

Riley also had a big day defensively in center field.

With the two losses, the Crusaders are now 2-2 in the Little 4 and 4-9 overall.

No stats were immediately available for South Fork.
