Former Eureka Logger Kaylee Murphy is building quite a legacy for herself playing basketball at UC Santa Cruz.
The junior forward is enjoying another outstanding season playing for the Banana Slugs and pulled down a season-high 18 rebounds in a 63-54 win at Westcliff on Sunday to set a new career record at the school.
Murphy set the new mark midway through the third quarter and now has 731 career rebounds in less than three full seasons at the school.
The 2018 Eureka High graduate added 12 points in the win for her second double-double of the weekend.
Murphy also had a team-high four assists in the game to give her 203 for her career, which is fifth on the school’s all-time list.
The Slugs standout is averaging a double-double this season. She leads her team with 13.2 boards a game and is second on the team with 14.2 points a game.
The high-flying D-III Santa Cruz women are now 11-2 and will play at La Verne on Saturday night.
