File photo – The Ferndale girls are now 3-0 in the Little 4.

The Ferndale girls moved one step closer to a Little 4 championship on Friday night, defeating South Fork 60-39 to go to 3-0 at the halfway stage of conference play.

The Wildcats carried the momentum from a big win over Eureka earlier in the week and completed the league sweep over the Cubs.

Emily Chavez finished with a game-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, as the Cats took control early and led by 16 at halftime.

Teammate Haidyn Fulton also had a big night, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds and five steals, while Kyla Albee finished with nine points, nine boards and seven steals.

The Cubs made a run in the second half and cut the deficit to 11 at one stage, but they could get no closer.

Freshman Shawnessy Conway-O’Neill impressed again in the loss and scored a co-game-high 17 points, while teammate Summer Contreras had seven points, Caidence Young six points and Macy Yarbrough four.

With the loss, the Cubs dropped to 0-3 in the Little 4 and 8-5 overall.

The Wildcats also got a big performance out of Reaghan Langer, who had eight points, six boards and three steals, while Carly Carmesin saw her first action this season after being sidelined with a knee injury and had an immediate impact with four points.

The Wildcats are now 12-2 overall.
