Ray Hamill/HUmboldtSports.com – CR’s Makaila Napoleon scored 31 points in a loss at Siskiyous on Saturday.
By Ray Hamill — Both College of the Redwoods basketball teams will play their first home conference games a couple of weeks later than originally scheduled on Wednesday afternoon, and spectators will be allowed.
The Corsairs, who tipped the Golden Valley Conference with road games at Butte and Siskiyous over the weekend, will host Lassen, with the women tipping off at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.
CR’s policy regarding spectators has not changed since the last home games in December and anyone attending will have to provide proof of vaccination or a recent test — within 48 hours for a PCR, or immediate rapid test.
Masks will also be required at all times.
Both CR teams opened the GVC with losses at Butte on Thursday and played the games in front of no spectators.
On Saturday, they played at Siskiyous and fans were allowed attend, with the men winning 87-80 and the women falling 87-76.
The CR men are now 1-1 in the GVC and 11-5 overall, while the women are 0-2 and 11-8.
Both teams are defending conference champions.
The Lassen men, meanwhile, come in with a record of 1-1 in conference and 2-14 overall.
The Lassen women, who have not played in several weeks, according to the CCCAA website, are 0-0 in the GVC and 2-9 overall.
The CR teams were originally scheduled to play their GVC home openers against Feather River two weeks ago, but those games were postponed until Jan. 26.
