Humboldt State teams fall at Sonoma State

Humboldt State’s Cam Timmons had a career night at Sonoma State on Monday, but the Jacks fell 66-56 to the Seawolves in men’s basketball.

Timmons finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.

With the loss, the Jacks dropped to 1-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and 7-4 overall, while Sonoma State is now 2-3 and 2-9.

The HSU women also were in action at Sonoma State on Monday, falling 54-50.

The Jacks cut a late seven-point deficit to just one with under a minute remaining, but the home team was able to hold on for the victory.

Julia Iman finished the game with her fourth straight double-double and her fifth overall.

The HSU junior guard scored 15 points to go with 13 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Madison Parry also scored 15 points for the Jacks and grabbed seven rebounds.

With the loss, the HSU women dropped to 3-2 in conference play and 4-5 overall, while Sonoma improved to 2-2 and 3-8.

Next up, both HSU teams will host Sonoma State on Jan. 2, with the women tipping off at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
