CR women win second straight home game

The College of the Redwoods women’s basketball team won at home for the second time this week on Friday afternoon, beating Merritt College 85-62.

Sophomore guard Ashley Quigley led the way once again and finished with 23 points in the win, as the former Arcata Tiger continues her outstanding season.

Quigley leads the Golden Valley Conference with 20.5 points a game and is also shooting a conference-best 41.3 percent from 3-point range.

Kathryce Danzuka also continued to impress in Friday’s win, and capped a big week with 15 points.

Teammate Rachel Valdez added 12 points and also continues to play a pivotal role for the team, while Makaila Napoleon, Josie Peterson and Kendall Stewart each had 10 points to round out a very balanced team performance.

With the win, the Corsairs improved to 9-5 on the season.

The CR women, who also beat Mendocino on Tuesday, will travel to play at the San Jose tournament on Dec. 27.
