The College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team rebounded from an opening day loss at the Santa Rosa tournament with an 82-72 win over Feather River on Friday afternoon.
Drew Gillette scored a team-high 20 points in the win, as the Corsairs improved to 9-3 on the season.
“The way we bounced back off such an emotional loss is a true testament to these guys’ character,” said head coach Ryan Bisio, whose team blew a big lead in a 91-87 loss to Yuba on Thursday. “Playing with great energy in a 2 p.m. losers’ bracket game is not easy to do.”
Jon Nchekwube added 17 points in the win, while Donald Willis finished with 12 points and Brandon Johnson chipped in 11.
The CR men, who will play either Foothill or Napa in their tourney finale on Saturday, hit 10 3-pointers in Friday’s win.
“We generated so much positivity today to carry us into tomorrow,” Bisio said.
