Humboldt State Athletics

Fresh off their first conference win of the season in basketball, the Humboldt State men are ranked No. 9 in this week’s West Region poll.

The Jacks won both of their games last week, including a 66-53 win at Stanislaus State on Saturday, and they are now 1-2 in the CCAA and 7-2 overall.

This is the third straight week the HSU men have featured in the West Region top 10.

The Jacks are tied in the rankings with Chaminade, while Chico State is No. 1, followed by Cal State San Marcos and Cal State San Bernardino.

On Tuesday, meanwhile, the CCAA announced that HSU’s Jaden Edwards has been named conference player of the week.

Edwards averaged 26.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the two games last week, including 41 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-68 win over Simpson.

The HSU women played just one game last week, falling 51-46 at Stanislaus State on Saturday.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Jacks, who are now 2-1 in conference and 3-4 overall.

Both HSU teams will play at Chico State on Saturday.
