The College of the Redwoods women closed out the two-day Shasta tournament with their second victory in two days on Saturday, defeating Porterville 80-60.

The Corsairs, who improved to 7-3, had to rally from a thee-point halftime deficit but outscored their opponents 38-14 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

“We made some halftime adjustments and we came out on fire in the second half,” assistant coach Darren Turpin said.

Sophomore guard Ashley Quigley was instrumental in the second-half rally, scoring 30 points to lead the way once again.

Kathryce Danzuka also had a good game and finished with 11 points, as did Josie Peterson.

The Corsairs will be back in action next weekend when they travel to play Santa Rosa and Consumnes River, before finally playing their home opener the following week.
