There was no change at the top in Wednesday’s H-DNL boys cross country race at McKinleyville, with the top three finishers remaining the same for the second straight week.

Arcata senior Jude Ortega won for the sixth time in six league races, with McKinleyville sophomore Damian Dinan placing second for the sixth time in six league races.

Ortega finished in a time of 16 minutes, 18.17 seconds, which was a season best time over a three-mile course.

The Arcata standout has dominated the rest of the field all season and will be a heavy favorite heading into next week’s league championships at the Arcata Marsh.

Dinan finished in a time of 16:50.84, while Northcast Prep’s Jaxon Peaker placed third in a time of 16:52.1.

Peaker, whose time was a PR, has placed third in four of the five league races he has competed in this season.

Arcata’s Camden Narwold (17:46.38) and Reece Thompson (17:48.45) rounded out the top five, giving the Tigers a comfortable team win.

The Tigers, in fact, had six of the top eight runners, including Tobias Sanchez in sixth, Luke Moxon in seventh and Lucas Blair in eighth.

Northcoast Prep’s Devon Baker-Berry was ninth, followed by Arcata’s Andrew Trieu in 10th.

The Eureka Loggers did not compete.
