Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Local basketball fans will get the opportunity to see the Corsairs in action next week.
By Ray Hamill — Basketball returns to College of the Redwoods on Tuesday for the first time since the historic playoff doubleheader of February 2020.
The CR men’s team will tip off the new season at home against Mendocino and fans are being encouraged to get there early with a limited capacity allowed.
“It’s the first time I can remember that Redwoods had an opener at home,” head coach Ryan Bisio said.
The local community college announced on Thursday that 500 spectators will be allowed, which is about 53 percent of capacity.
Masks will be required by spectators at all times, except when consuming food or drink in their seats, and temperature checks and screening questions will be required for entry.
Ticket prices for the games are $8 general admission and $5 for students and seniors, with children 12 and under and CR students with student ID allowed in for free.
Tickets will only be available at the door, although out of town visitors can call 707-476-4213 to reserve tickets ahead of time.
Home games will be streamed live through YouTube.
Tuesday’s game tips off at 5 p.m.
The CR women will play on the road until mid December.
