The Fortuna Huskies closed out their second straight perfect regular season in boys soccer on Wednesday, defeating Eureka 3-0 to go to 17-0.
The Big 5 champs were 12-0 in conference play and last week clinched their eighth straight league title.
Last season they were 9-0.
On Wednesday, it was senior Antonio Garcinuno who led the way, scoring twice and causing the visiting Loggers problems every time he was on the ball.
“I thought Antonio put us on his back tonight,” head coach Daniel Holmes said. “He was definitely encouraging the kids and he found some width on the outside.”
RJ Rexford also scored for the league champs.
“There were times when we linked pretty well,” Holmes said. “And I was proud of them for playing with a lot of heart.”
Holmes also had words of praise for a continually improving Eureka team, which was much stronger over the second half of the season.
“Eureka gets better every time they touch the ball,” the Fortuna coach said.
