By Ray Hamill — This year’s Big 5 went down to the final night, with the Arcata Tigers defeating Del Norte in four sets to claim the championship pennant on Tuesday.

And with just one senior on this year’s roster, the Tigers could very well continue their dominating run next season.

Under head coach Laurie Griffith, the Arcata girls have now won back-to-back conference titles in 2019 and 2021, and it would have been three straight had the league awarded a championship during last season’s COVID shortened campaign.
