By Ray Hamill — A 14-7 win at Albee Stadium on Saturday night sees the St. Bernard’s Crusaders move up one spot to No. 2 in this week’s local high school football power rankings.
Del Norte remains No. 1 and even solidified its position after a big 34-0 shutout victory at home to Fortuna on Friday night.
The Huskies, despite their struggles in Crescent City, still have a couple of nice wins under their belt this year, including a victory over the Loggers the previous week, which keeps them in the top three, dropping one spot from last week.
The big question in this week’s rankings is whether the red-hot Tigers should be higher?
They certainly have impressed over the past four weeks and are one of the most intriguing stories of the season.
1 — Del Norte (2-0, 4-1)
The Warriors are coming off a big win over Fortuna and look like they will be tough to stop this year
2 — St. Bernard’s (1-1, 3-3)
This is a more physical Crusaders team than we’ve seen in a while
3 — Fortuna (1-1, 4-2)
The Huskies are coming off a tough loss, but still have some nice wins this season
4 — Eureka (0-2, 1-4)
Mistakes continue to be a problem for the Loggers, who have dropped four straight games
5 — Arcata (2-0, 4-2)
The Tigers have the most electricfying offense in the H-DNL. Would they beat Eureka or Fortuna right now?
