McKinleyville All-Stars get some national recognition

By Ray Hamill — Another big summer for McKinleyville Little League has not gone unnoticed.

This week, Unpage Publications, a website dedicated to Little League coverage, has included the McKinleyville 12s on its list of the top-50 teams in the country.

The Mack All-Stars, who enjoyed another memorable playoff run, are listed as the No. 36 team in the nation.

Not a bad showing for a team from Humboldt County or any county considering there are approximately 6,500 Little League leagues in the United States.

The McKinleyville All-Stars marched through the District and Area tournaments in July, before eventually placing fourth in NorCal.

Their only two losses along the way were in extra innings at the NorCal state tournament, and it followed a second-place finish in state two years ago as 10-year-olds.

Two other teams from NorCal were included high up on the prestigious list— Petaluma at No 6 and San Mateo at No. 11 — showcasing just how deep the bracket here was.

Taylor North out of Michigan is listed as the No. 1 team in the nation after winning the Little League World Series last month.

  1. Proud of our team, #11 team San Mateo beat us by 1 in extra innings. They only lost 3-4 vs # 6 team Petaluma. We were right there……♥️⚾️
