The Spartans are returning to Humboldt State.
For the second straight year, the San Jose State football team will use the Redwood Bowl and the HSU facilities for training camp, with the team set to arrive on campus on Wednesday for a couple of weeks of preseason practice.
Included will be a team scrimmage at the Redwood Bowl on Saturday, August 7, which local fans will be allowed to attend.
More details of the scrimmage will be released in the coming days.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the Spartans to prepare for their season in the beautiful Redwood Bowl,” said Cooper Jones, HSU’s new Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Campus Recreation. “We’re glad to assist San José State as they kick off the 2021 season with Fall camp in Arcata.”
The Spartans, who used the Humboldt State facilities to prepare for their season last year in the midst of the pandemic, will once again live and practice on campus.
“After last year’s safe visit, and a very successful season for SJSU, we are happy to invite them back and support the team this semester,” Jones added.
According to an HSU press release announcing the news, the San Jose State players coaches and staff have all been fully vaccinated.
