The Redwood Empire 12-year-old All-Stars bounced back from Monday’s loss to McKinleyville with a 5-4 win over Klamath Trinity at Fortuna on Tuesday night.
The victory lifts RELL into the championship round at the district tournament and sets up a rematch against undefeated McKinleyville on Wednesday night.
The Klamath Trinity All-Stars close out tournament play with a record of 2-2 and a third-place finish, their best showing in the district since 1992.
RELL goes into Wednesday night’s showdown with a record of 2-1, while Mack is 3-0 and has outscored its three opponents 40-4, including an 11-3 win over RELL on Monday.
Wednesday’s game is set for 6 p.m.
If the McKinleyville All-Stars win, they will be crowned district champs, while if RELL wins, a second championship showdown will be held on Thursday.
