Panthers beat the Cubs in season finale

Just three days after falling to Big 5 frontrunners Arcata, the McKinleyville Panthers got back to winning ways on Saturday, defeating South Fork 62-49 in the season finale for both teams.

With the victory, the Panthers close out the three-week campaign with a record of 6-2.

Senior T-Ryan Stumpf capped an outstanding season with a game-high 17 points in the win, including three 3-pointers.

Teammate Jack George added 13 points and Charlie Campbell finished with 11.

The Panthers pulled away in the third quarter, stretching an eight-point halftime advantage to 16 going into the fourth quarter.

Connor Alto chipped in 10 points in the win.

For South Fork, Alex harding also closed out his high school career with a big game, scoring a team-high 15 points.

The Cubs closed out the season 3-5, after sweeping all three Little 4 games and dropping their five games against Big 5 teams.

Oliver Tatton added 11 points for South Fork, while Graham McConnell had nine points and Crue Contreras six.
