Huskies hold off determined Loggers

The Fortuna Huskies won their second straight in H-DNL boys basketball on Saturday night, holding off a determined Eureka team to win 77-71.

No more than three points separated the two teams after each of the first three quarters, with Fortuna’s Bo Cox and Eureka’s Caden Vance each playing a pivotal role for their respective teams.

Cox had with a double-double, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and four assists, while Vance had a game-high 27 points, including four 3-pointers, as he continues to establish himself at the varsity level.

Branson Gans added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies, who are now 3-1, while Chaz Schlesinger added 12 points and five rebounds.

Matt Berti and Jordin Bourne each also big nights in the win with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Jackson Giacone added 17 points for Eureka, which lost a fourth straight game and is now 1-5.

The Loggers won the JV matchup by a score of 74-50, while the Fortuna freshmen improved to 4-0 with a 67-64 win.
