On Saturday, White unveiled his first group of local recruits, with 19 H-DNL players showing up on campus to sign their letters of intent to play for the team.
White was hired six weeks ago after previously coaching with the team for a decade in the 1990s and early 2000s.
And he expects a bigger local presence on the roster than he’s ever seen before.
“We’re going to have over 40 I think, so that will be the biggest local group I’ve ever coached at College of the Redwoods,” he said. “And I’m excited about that.”

He added that he believes a strong local presence on the team will create more interest and will be the foundation for success.
“In the 10 years that I was here previously, every year that we were successful we had a solid base of local kids that were like starters for us, and you had a good mix between out-of-the-area and local kids,” he said. “And that’s what we’re going to strive to do again.”
