Shanahan leads balanced scoring performance for Crusaders

Sophomore Owen Shanahan led a balanced St. Bernard’s scoring performance in Thursday’s H-DNL boys basketball game at Fortuna.

The Huskies nailed two late free throw attempts to sneak a 56-55 win, as the Crusaders dropped to 1-1 on the young season.

Shanahan scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Crusaders at the offensive end and was one of five players to score nine or more points.

Lito Pabalate added 11 points, while both Demetrius Rawson and Remy Campbell finished with 10 points.

Drew Vizenor also chipped in nine points.

Earlier in the week, the Crusaders defeated McKinleyville in their season opener.

The St. Bernard’s boys will be back in action on Saturday, when they play at Eureka.
