Despite missing their senior leader for much of the first half, the Del Norte Warriors comfortably took care of business at home to Hoopa in H-DNL girls basketball on Wednesday night, winning 44-22.
With Jadence Clifton in foul trouble early and forced to the bench for the second quarter, freshman Anyessa Bettega picked up some of the slack, finishing with a game-high 13 points.
“She had a phenomenal night,” head coach Justin Clifton said of the newcomer.
Jadence, who broke the school’s all-time career scoring record earlier in the week, had a productive night once again despite the early foul trouble.
The senior standout, who will play at Oregon Tech after graduation, finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
Katherine Young and Molly Slayton each also scored six points as the Warriors improved to 2-0.
Taylor Cole scored a team-high 12 points for the Hoopa girls, who were playing their first game of the season.
