The McKinleyville Panthers and Fortuna Huskies split an H-DNL baseball doubleheader on Saturday, with a pair of shutouts.
McKinleyville took game one, 1-0, when Austin Brown drove in Logan Maher on a walk-off double for the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Corbin Eichin pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing just three hits and striking out eight.
Eichin also had a double, while Brown finished 2-for-4 with a double and Riley Bates was 2-for-3.
Branson Gans pitched well in the loss, allowing six hits in 6.2 innings and striking out 12.
Gans, Cody Collins and Jared Egan each had a hit in the loss.
The Huskies responded quickly, however, winning game two by a score of 6-0.
Aaron Head-Mason got the win on the mound, allowing just two hits in a complete-game shutout, while striking out 13 and walking two.
Cole Ayala provided the highlight at the plate, hitting a solo home run and finishing 2-for-3, while Collins and Regan Nyberg each had two hits, including a double.
Daniel Osborne also had two hits in the win.
Tenoche Tapia and T-Ryan Stumpf had McKinleyville’s only two hits.
With the split, Fortuna is now 8-5 on the season and McKinleyville is 5-8.
The two teams meet again on Monday at Newburg Park in Fortuna at 4 p.m. in the season finale for both.
