A young Del Norte Warriors team ended a six-game losing streak in H-DNL baseball on Tuesday, getting the better of South Fork 8-4.
Senior Daylen O’Reilley pitched a complete game for the win.
O’Reilley gave up just two earned runs on six hits in seven innings, while walking two and striking out seven.
At the plate, Brody Mattz continued to impress in the win, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
Ethan Thomas also had two hits and two RBIs, while William Boommelyn and Gavin Skerik each added a hit.
With the win, the Warriors improved to 3-10.
For South Fork, Justin Freitas had a big two-run base hit in the top of the sixth, but early errors proved costly for the Cubs, who gave up five runs in the bottom of the second.
Shevy Bero Van Meter, Jason Truscott, Broc Contreras, John Harding and Tanner Curran each also had a hit for the Cubs.
Graham McConnell and Harding each pitched three innings in the loss
South Fork is now 3-10.
