The Eureka girls continued to roll with an 11-1 win in five innings against Del Norte in H-DNL softball on Wednesday.
Five different Loggers had multiple hits in the win, none as big as freshman Kaitlin Giacone, who hit her first-ever high school home run.
Kira Morris and Salina Socha-Wright each also had two hits, with Morris driving in four of the Loggers’ runs and Socha-Wright two.
Senior third baseman Wyatt Thurston played her best game of the season, according to head coach Sarah Fox, and had two hits.
“I was really excited to see the production throughout the entire lineup,” Fox said.
Maeghan Hampton continued her impressive season and also finished with two hits in the win, as the Loggers improved to 6-0.
“I am very proud of our team,” Fox said. “Every athlete on this team is working hard in whatever their role is. People are stepping up for their teammates and picking each other up when need be.”
Senior pitcher Alexa Morehouse got the win in the circle, throwing all five innings.
She continued to show a lot of control, allowing just three hits and no walks, while striking out seven of the 19 batters she faced.
Claire Maples and Taliyah Cooper both finished 1-for-1.
Standout shortstop Josephine Heuberger had two hits for Del Norte, which dropped to 2-5.
Jordyn Sanchez also had a hit and scored the team’s lone run on a sacrifice fly by senior Madison Haag.
And, according to head coach Jackie Heuberger, it was a good performance in some aspects.
“They played the best defense I have seen in our young team, eliminating a lot of the mistakes that we made in our series with Mack (last week),” the head coach said.
The two teams are scheduled to play again in a doubleheader on Saturday.
