College of the Redwoods lost two games against College of the Siskiyous in softball on Saturday, falling 9-2 and 11-3.
Karyn Jensen had a big game at the plate in the opener, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, while Juliana Ortega-Miranda also continued to impress, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and the team’s only RBI.
Grace Rosebrook rounded out a four-hit team performance, while Makayla Bernald took the loss in the pitcher’s circle.
In game two, Jaycee Morais led the way for the Corsairs at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, with additional hits from Ortega-Miranda, Nas‐Che‐Wen Hunsucker and McKenna Turner.
Kylee Dewey took the loss in the circle.
Next up, the Corsairs (1-7) will play a doubleheader against Butte in Redding on Thursday.
CR baseball struggles against Lassen
The College of the Redwoods baseball team lost two games against Lassen on Saturday, falling 10-2 and 29-2.
“We just didn’t play well collectively,” interim head coach Andrew Aiello said. “We have spurts of quality baseball but haven’t gotten over the hump of doing it for a game.”
Dylan Short and Spencer Roach each hit a home run for CR in game two.
Nathan Findley and Shadd Jones took the losses on the mound.
CR is now 1-9.
