After dropping the opening game of a softball doubleheader at home to Del Norte on Friday, the Fortuna Huskies battled back to take game two by a score of 12-4.
Libby Johnston got the win in the pitcher’s circle for the Huskies (1-2), while also helping her own cause with a couple of base hits.
Freshman Mariah Smith also had a big day at the plate, finishing with a pair of hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
Del Norte won the opening game 11-9, with freshman pitcher McKenna Curtis getting the victory in the circle.
Josephine Heuberger was outstanding in both game for the Warriors, who improved to 2-1.
Heuberger was 3-for-4 with three runs in the win, and sparked her teammates with some aggressive base running.
She also made some big plays at shortstop in both games.
Kylee Fennell took the loss in the circle in game one, while finishing with two hits at the plate.
Teammate Lorelei Martinez also had two hits in the loss.
