By Ray Hamill — The Arcata Tigers are off to a 2-0 start in baseball with shutout victories over Hoopa and St. Bernard’s this week.

The team’s pitching has looked good against the Little 4 opposition, with just one hit allowed in the two games.

The team hitting, according to head coach Troy Ghisetti, is still a work in progress and will have to improve if the Tigers want to compete with the best teams in the Big 5 this spring.

One definite bright spot at the plate was Mason Nichols’ home run at St. Bernard’s on Wednesday.

The Tigers will have a bye this weekend, but will be back in action at Fortuna on Wednesday.
