By Ray Hamill — Former McKinleyville Panther Jacob Smith is enjoying his return to baseball at Carleton College in Minnesota this spring.

Smith is batting .361 for the Division-III Knights and was 5-for-7 in a doubleheader against Martin Luther over the weekend.

The 2018 McKinleyville graduate has started all 10 games for the 2-8 Knights, who managed to get in just two games last spring before the COVID shutdown.

For the season, Smith has four doubles, a triple and six RBIs.

The Knights are scheduled to play a doubleheader against Augsburg University on Friday.
