VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS — Huskies strike quickly in season opener

By Ray Hamill — It didn’t take the Fortuna Huskies long to strike on Friday night, scoring their first touchdown on the opening play from scrimmage.

The Huskies would go on to score 33 points in the opening quarter in a 54-18 win at McKinleyville.

The game was the first for both teams since late in 2019, ending 15 months without football here on the North Coast.

A young Panthers team was clearly outmatched but offers plenty of hope for the future.

The Huskies, meanwhile, showed why they will be tough to stop this season.
