By Ray Hamill — With a just a couple of days remaining before the listings are officially closed, there has been plenty of interest in the two open head coach positions at College of the Redwoods.

The Corsairs recently announced that they are bringing back football for the 2022 season, while also adding women’s tennis, which is scheduled to begin next spring.

The two openings have been listed for the past two weeks, and as of Friday a total of 26 candidates have applied for the football head coach position, with four applying for the tennis vacancy.

According to CR Athletics Director Bob Brown, the department is very excited by the responses so far.

Interested coaches have until Monday to apply.

The new football coach will have to place a greater emphasis on local recruiting, which is one of the conditions for bringing the team back after it had been cut last summer for budgetary reasons.

Both positions are expected to be filled by early April.
