By Ray Hamill — Despite the change in the H-DNL football schedule for this coming weekend, Tag Wotherspoon and the crew at Mix 95.1 FM are still planning on broadcasting two games live, with a new face alongside the veteran broadcaster in the booth this season.
At least three of the home teams are also planning on streaming the games online for fans unable to attend.
The action gets under way on Friday afternoon, when Ferndale travels to play St. Bernard’s in Eureka.
On Friday night, Arcata will travel to South Fork and Fortuna plays at McKinleyville, while Fortuna B hosts Eureka on Saturday night.
The schedule was changed earlier this week after Del Norte was forced to pull out of its scheduled opener against Fortuna when a player tested positive for COVID.
This season, Wotherspoon will be joined on the radio by long-time local football coach Jason White.
White knows local football about as well as anyone, having coached at Eureka and St. Bernard’s for several years, as well as at College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State.
The new partnership will call the action from St. Bernard’s on Friday afternoon, as well as Saturday night’s game at Fortuna.
The pregame show gets under way at 3:15 p.m. on Friday and at 7:15 on Saturday.
All the St. Bernard’s home games will also be broadcast live on YouTube, while both Fortuna and South Fork are planning on streaming their home games this season.
Stay tuned for more details of where to watch.
