H-DNL proposing to allow four spectators per player

File photo – A limited number of spectators are expected to be allowed at outdoor games when competition begins this month.

By Ray Hamill — With another league meeting scheduled for Friday, the H-DNL is expected to allow four spectators per player from the same household when football and soccer resumes competition next week.

Friday’s meeting will be the second of the week after the league athletic directors met on Monday to discuss options.

It is also now being proposed to begin volleyball practice next week, with plans for baseball, softball and track and field to begin practice in early April and overlap for a couple of weeks with football, soccer and volleyball, before beginning competition in mid-April right after those other sports conclude.

If the schedule is approved, baseball, softball and track and field would run until the second half of May, when the league is hoping to begin a short basketball season for a few weeks.

The H-DNL soccer season gets under way next Wednesday, with football scheduled to kick off a week from Friday.
