By Ray Hamill — A second local “Let Them Play CA” rally is planned for next Friday in Eureka.

The event is being organized by parents of student athletes from multiple H-DNL schools, and will be one of several around the state in an effort to pressure Governor Gavin Newsom and state health officials to allow a return to youth sports.

It will be the second round of statewide rallies, as the grass roots movement builds momentum and now boasts more than 45,000 members.

The idea this time around is to hold a limited number of bigger rallies, and the Eureka event is one of just three planned in the North Coast Section.

The rally will be held outside the offices of Senator Mike McGuire and Assembly Member and Chair of the Health Committee Jim Wood at 1036 Fifth Street in Eureka.

Close to 100 local student athletes, parents, coaches and fans were on hand at the first local “Let Them Play CA” rally in front of Ferndale City Hall last week.
