The Redwood Acres Raceway and long-time sponsor Harper Motors this week unveiled the new pace car for the 2020 season, which will get under way on July 11.
After having four events canceled due to the coronavirus, the local raceway has been given the go-ahead by county health officials to host a restricted event.
Harper Motors will also sponsor the season-opening night, which will feature all six divisions — Bandoleros, Roadrunners, Mini Stocks, Bombers, Legends and Late Models.
Harper Motors has provided the official raceway pace car for several seasons, and this year it is a slick new silver, black and orange Mustang.
According to a RAR press release, the color scheme was inspired by the pace car used for the 1979 Indianapolis 500.
The racing gets under way at 3 p.m. and no fans will be allowed in attendance, with all the action being streamed live online.
Social distancing measures will be in place in the pit area.
The opening event will be preceded by a tune and test on July 10 from noon to 8 p.m.
