Racing nears return to Redwood Acres, as pit passes go on sale

Redwood Acres Raceway officials say it’s full steam ahead as they get set to open the season on July 11.

After having the first four events of the season canceled due to the coronavirus, the local raceway was recently given the go-ahead by county health officials to begin racing.

The season opener will be held without fans, and will be streamed live online.

On Tuesday, the raceway announced that there will be a limited number of competitors allowed, while encouraging drivers to sign up early online at racintheacres.com and to purchase pit passes, which are now on sale.

The action is scheduled to get under way at 3 p.m., with all of the divisions racing.

Among the restrictions that will be in place …

  • There will be at least 12 feet be between each team.
  • Teams are not allowed mingle with other teams in the pits.
  • Masks must be worn when outside a pit stall, with six feet of social distancing required.
