By Ray Hamill — The Northern Humboldt Giants 17U team made it three straight wins to start the American Legion season with an emphatic 13-1 win over the Humboldt Eagles in the opening game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
And they did it in large part thanks to a big fourth inning, where they plated six runs to break open a 1-1 tie and take control of the game.
Check out the fourth-inning highlights here, including a big two-RBI double by Mason Nichols, who has impressed at the plate in the early going this season.
Cayden Lee also had a big hit in the big inning to drive in what would be the winning run.
The Eagles, however, bounced back to win an exciting game two 13-10.
