By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt B52s’ season remains on for now, with the club board scheduled to discuss any possible effects of COVID-19 on the summer schedule on Sunday.

The Eureka-based collegiate summer baseball club plays during June and July and thus far there appears to be no definitive reason to cancel anything, with hopes that the ongoing crisis will have cleared enough in two months time to allow sports resume.

“We have a phone conference tomorrow with the board to talk about it and see where we’re at,” team manager Scott St. John said on Saturday. “As of right now it’s still in the works to go ahead.”

The team plays an important role in the development of local players each summer, providing a platform for them to hone their skills for the collegiate game, and the B52s annually feature several local players on their roster.
